Ms Aisling O'Brien

Aisling O’Brien is an experienced Physiotherapist and Practice Partner, recognised for her advanced clinical training and extensive experience in musculoskeletal care, spinal rehabilitation and sports physiotherapy. She studied Physiotherapy at the University of Bradford before completing a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine at NUI Galway, followed by a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine and Exercise (MedSc) from University College Cork.

Aisling began her career in the NHS, where she worked across core physiotherapy rotations and later specialised in musculoskeletal therapy and spinal manipulation. Her background in sports physiotherapy is extensive; she has worked with English professional rugby league teams, intercounty GAA squads and Irish basketball players, giving her deep insight into the demands placed on athletes and the importance of evidence-based injury management. Her academic research has focused on ACL injury prevention and post-surgical rehabilitation in adolescent female athletes.

Aisling’s approach to physiotherapy is rooted in the belief that long-term health is best achieved through active participation. She emphasises exercise, manual therapy and training balance as key components in preventing and managing injury. She is known for her holistic and patient-centred philosophy, always considering the psychosocial influences that contribute to musculoskeletal pain. Aisling works with a wide range of conditions but has particular expertise in adolescent injury prevention, spinal injuries, neck and back pain, sciatica, mastitis and postnatal rehabilitation.

Her professional development includes comprehensive postgraduate training in areas such as manual therapy (including Mulligan and Orthopaedic Medicine techniques), acupuncture and deep muscular needling, biomechanics prescription, kinesiology taping, Pilates mat-work for physiotherapists, dry needling, emergency on-field medical management, CPR and Basic Life Support. She is also trained in Mummy MOT assessment and mastitis management, further supporting her work with women during the postnatal period.
