Mr Cian Gildea

Cian Gildea is an accomplished optometrist who joined Wellington Eye Clinic in 2014. He serves as a Clinical Optometrist and contact lens specialist at both Wellington Eye Clinic and Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital. His passion lies in restoring sight through specialist contact lens fitting, encompassing a range of techniques from large diameter scleral lenses to Orthokeratology.

Cian completed his BSc in optometry at Dublin Institute of Technology, where he distinguished himself by receiving one of two available scholarships to study at the University Of Houston College Of Optometry in Texas, USA. Additionally, he holds a BSc in Property Economics from the same institution.

As a dedicated professional in his field, Cian is recognised as a Fellow of the Association of Optometrists in Ireland (FAOI), a member of the Scleral Lens Education Society (SLS), a Fellow of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (FIACLE), a Fellow of the British Contact Lens Association (FBCLA), and a member of the European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO).

Beyond his clinical work, Cian contributes his expertise to the field by consulting for Enterprise Ireland on commercialisation fund projects for various optometric, ophthalmologic, and ocular products and devices.
