Dr. Vincent Stephen

Dr. Vincent Stephen is a confident and accomplished orthopaedic surgeon with more than 18 years of proven experience in clinical and surgical practice. Dr. Stephen has developed significant expertise in a wide range of orthopaedic procedures, including trauma surgeries for both adults and children, lumbar spine surgeries using open and minimally invasive techniques, and laser spine procedures. He is skilled in radiofrequency ablation for back pain and has extensive experience performing knee arthroscopies and knee and hip arthroplasties. His surgical portfolio also includes hand surgeries involving tendon and nerve repairs, management of soft tissue and joint infections, surgeries for benign bone tumours, and complex procedures such as soft tissue flaps and skin grafting.

Dr. Stephen's medical education began with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Medical College in Kottayam, Kerala in 2000. He completed both his MS and DNB in Orthopaedics in 2005, with postgraduate training at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal and the National Board of Examinations in New Delhi, respectively. In 2020, he furthered his academic credentials by earning an MCh in Orthopaedics from the University of Dundee in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Stephen holds a medical registration with the Travancore Cochin Medical Council in Kerala and has worked in both India and the UAE. From 2005 to 2020, he served as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Chazhikattu Hospital in Thodupuzha, a 350-bed specialty hospital in Kerala. Since November 2020, he has been practicing at Ahalia Hospital in Musaffah, UAE, where he continues to provide expert orthopaedic care as a specialist surgeon.

Dr. Stephen completed two original research dissertations—one on the effect of internal fixation on canal dimensions and neurological recovery in thoracolumbar spine burst fractures, and another analysing complications of collarless polished tapered (CPT) implants in primary total hip arthroplasty using binary logistic regression. The latter was part of his MCh program in Dundee, conducted under the guidance of Dr. Weijie Wang and Mrs. Linda Johnston.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Stephen has received advanced training from leading orthopaedic experts worldwide. He trained in spine surgery under Dr. Ronaldo Puno in Kentucky, USA, and Dr. K.V. Menon at Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi. He also completed specialised training in shoulder arthroscopy with Dr. Andrew Wallace and participated in a number of prestigious courses including those organised by AO Spine, the Indo-German Orthopaedic Foundation, and the Indian Arthroscopy Society.

His professional affiliations include life membership in the Indian Orthopaedic Association, Kerala Orthopaedic Association, AO Spine Asia Pacific, and the Indian Arthroscopy Society.
