Dr Rituraj Videkar

Dr Rituraj Videkar is a Senior Specialist in Ophthalmology currently practising at Fakeeh University Hospital in Dubai. He has more than 15 years of clinical experience and previously served as a Specialist Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Dubai Hospital for over eight years.

He completed his medical and ophthalmic training in India, gaining an MS in Ophthalmology (2008) from Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital, Mumbai, along with FCPS and DOMS from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Bombay. He then undertook a long-term vitreoretinal fellowship at the Retina Foundation, Ahmedabad (2008–2010). He was later awarded FICO by the International Council of Ophthalmology and FRCS by the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow.

Dr Videkar’s clinical expertise covers the management of vitreoretinal conditions including retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, macular disease, and retinopathy of prematurity. He has extensive surgical experience in vitrectomy, phacoemulsification, secondary intraocular lens implantation, ocular trauma, glaucoma procedures, and oculoplastic surgery. He is also proficient in advanced imaging and laser techniques including OCT, FA, ICG, PASCAL, and intravitreal therapies.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Videkar has an active academic and research background. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals on retinal detachment, vitrectomy techniques and retinal imaging, and has presented research papers, posters and surgical videos at major international meetings including EURETINA, ASRS and APAO. He also contributes to medical education and has been recognised for his role as a frontline clinician during the COVID-19 pandemic.
