About Dr. Maher Al Rawi

Dr Maher H. Z. Al Rawi is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 30 years of clinical and academic experience. He holds a fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow and is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He also holds the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (EPOS) Diploma and is certified by the Arab Board of Surgery.

Dr Al Rawi began his medical career in Iraq in 1992, working as an orthopaedic surgeon and lecturer at Al Anbar Medical College and Teaching Hospital. He later became Assistant Professor and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Baghdad University - Al Kindy College of Medicine, serving as Deputy Dean for scientific affairs and postgraduate studies. He held several senior positions, including Head of Surgery and Orthopaedics, and supervised medical students and postgraduate trainees.

For over 15 years, Dr Al Rawi has worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Head of Department in a leading hospital in the United Arab Emirates. He has treated thousands of patients of all ages, including those with complex trauma and orthopaedic conditions. He has extensive experience in teaching and has contributed to research in paediatric orthopaedic surgery.

Dr Al Rawi specialises in paediatric trauma and orthopaedics, including congenital conditions such as clubfoot and developmental dysplasia of the hip. He also manages general musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries, degenerative joint disease, soft tissue and tendon injuries, and neuropathic disorders such as cerebral palsy and post-polio complications.

He is fluent in Arabic and English and is an active member of numerous professional associations, including the Emirates Medical Association, Iraqi Medical Association, AO Trauma Foundation, EPOS, MEPOS, SICOT, and AAOS.
