About Dr. Imran Jawaid

Dr. Imran Jawaid is a highly qualified Consultant Ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Dubai, with a dual specialisation in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. His expertise spans a wide range of ophthalmic conditions, from paediatric strabismus to cataract management in adults and children. Dr. Jawaid brings a unique perspective to his practice, holding qualifications as both an optometrist and ophthalmic surgeon, which allows him to provide comprehensive, multi-faceted care to his patients.

Dr. Jawaid completed his medical degree at the University of Leicester in 2010, followed by advanced ophthalmology and research training in Nottingham. He later undertook a competitive post-CCT fellowship in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Oxford Eye Hospital. His clinical training in the East Midlands and further specialisation have equipped him with extensive expertise in managing complex paediatric and adult cases. He received his FRCOphth from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2019 and also serves as Clinical Lead for Emergency Ophthalmology and Head of Service for Ophthalmology at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Jawaid is an active contributor to medical education and ophthalmic research. He has authored several peer-reviewed papers, presented at local and international conferences, and contributed to ophthalmology book chapters. His dedication to education is evident in his role on the Education Committee at the General Optical Council and his previous experience as a clinical educator at two UK medical schools. Dr. Jawaid has also been involved in curriculum development for allied health professionals at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and frequently lectures on diverse ophthalmic topics.
