About Dr. Hussein Omar
Dr. Hussein Omar is a consultant psychiatrist and Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK, with a distinguished career in psychiatry that spans over 25 years.
Dr. Omar currently serves as a consultant psychiatrist at the London Consulting Medical Center in Abu Dhabi and also a consultant psychiatrist for students at New York University Abu Dhabi. He has previously held consultant positions in the National Service Hospitals (NHS England), working in prestigious university hospitals such as Imperial College London Hospitals, University College London Hospitals, King’s College London Hospitals, and St. George University Hospitals.
He is a founding member of the Association of Arab Psychiatrists in Britain since 2004 and a former member of the Examination Standards Committee at the Royal College of Psychiatrists, England. Dr. Omar has also served as a supervisor and examiner for students at Imperial College London and University College London.
Dr. Omar is the founder of the Psychiatric Club in Abu Dhabi since 2020 and a former member of the Scientific Committee of the Annual Conference of Psychiatry at the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology in Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Omar has actively participated in numerous international psychiatry conferences, delivering talks, chairing discussion sessions, and publishing scientific research papers. He has contributed significantly to mental health awareness through articles in daily newspapers, radio and television interviews, and podcasts in London, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. He is the creator of the “مساحة سلام" podcast, in which he hosts couargeous people who recovered from mental health issues and are keen to share their inspiring journeys with the world to instil hope for a bettr future.
Dr. Omar has authored and published research on psychological therapies for borderline personality disorder. He has also published several scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals and presented research projects at international conferences.
Dr. Omar is among the pioneers in the diagnosis and treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) in adults since 2013. He alos has significant experience in tretaing eating disorders and personality disorders. He has a keen interest in sports psychology, focusing on mental health for athletes. Additionally, Dr. Omar is very interested in helping people who pursue personal development, psychological growth, emotional regulation.
