My wife was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer and Dr. Keerthi was the first surgeon I consulted. After my first session with him, I was convinced I didn't need to go anywhere else. And I am extremely glad that I decided not to look elsewhere. After a wisely chosen neo-adjuvant chemo cycle of 3 sessions, Dr. Keerthi performed a 100% successful cytoreduction with HIPEC procedure that lasted nearly 16+ hours!

Let me breakdown my total experience

Communication:
Even before we had the final test results, Dr. Keerthi was highly detailed and clear in explaining the details of the disease and what are the different options and pathways for each stage of the disease.

Once my wife's test results were out, he was quite supportive and positive yet transparent in explaining what is the true nature of the situation and what can we expect in terms of treatment and outcomes.

In terms of the procedure, he was almost academic in explaining the various steps and risks at each step and also detailed what it would mean post-surgery, during recovery and beyond.

Expertise:
His expertise and experience both made a significant impact on the outcome for my wife. Although surgery was already planned, he took the wise decision to cancel it after doing an initial laparoscopy. While this was not a happy moment for my wife, we would realize a few months later that this was indeed the most appropriate decision by Dr. Keerthi and anything otherwise would have seriously jeopardized the outcome for my wife in the long term.

He is not only honest but also very practical when it comes to taking surgical decisions. He assembled the right team based on my wife's case and set up the right competency required to handle any surgical emergencies.

Procedure:
When he met me for the first time after a 16+ hours long surgery, I was expecting to see a tired and exhausted man. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to see a man beaming with the success and satisfaction of the operation he had just performed. Even at 2:30 in the night he came out and explained in details how the surgery went. He was patient to show me the photos taken during the surgery and explain how the observations from diagnostics were operated on and then what it looked like after the surgery.

Post-Operative Care:
Both during the ICU stay and the nearly 2-weeks of post-operative stay, Dr. Keerthi was fully dedicated to ensuring that my wife's recovery and postop care is going on the right track. He was kind and encouraging and showed up for regular review even on his weekends!

Summary:
He is a very good doctor and an even better person. His expertise and experience are relevant, current and remarkable. He is tough on staff who doesn't demonstrate quality and kind and empathic towards his patients. Disease management is a skill and patient management is an art; he excels at both
