Dr. Anwar Rasheed Ahmed

Dr Anwar Rasheed Ahmed is a highly experienced Specialist Urologist with extensive expertise in general urology, minimally invasive procedures, and advanced management of urinary tract and prostate conditions. He has been practising as a specialist urologist since 2009 and has worked across major hospitals in Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.

Dr Ahmed completed his M.B.Ch.B in 1998 and later achieved Fellowship qualifications from both the Iraqi Board of Medical Specializations (F.I.B.M.S) in Urology and the Arab Board of Medical Specializations (F.A.B.M.S) in Urology. He also completed specialised training in laparoscopic urological surgery, strengthening his expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques.

His formal specialist training included rotations in general surgery and urology at Al-Kindy Teaching Hospital and Baghdad Medical City, both recognised training centres for the Iraqi and Arab Boards of Medical Specializations. During this period, he progressed from senior house officer roles to senior registrar in urology, gaining broad experience in general and surgical urology.

From 2010 to 2013, Dr Ahmed worked as a Specialist Urologist at Al-Fallujah General Hospital before relocating to the UAE. Since 2013, he has practised at Specialized Medical Care Hospital in Al Ain under the Department of Health Abu Dhabi licensing system and has also served as a visiting urologist at NMC Hospital since 2022.

Dr Ahmed has advanced experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of urological disorders, including prostate enlargement, urinary stone disease, bladder dysfunction, and minimally invasive urological surgery. His additional procedural training includes Botox treatment for overactive bladder, percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), urodynamic bladder studies, laparoscopic surgery, and modern minimally invasive treatments for benign prostate enlargement including the UroLift and Rezūm techniques.

He is recognised for his professional and patient-focused approach, with strong communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills. Dr Ahmed is also an active member of several professional organisations, including the Iraqi Urology Association, the European Association of Urology, the Arab Urology Association, and the International Urology Society.
