About Dr. Ajit Kumar
Dr. Ajit Kumar is a Consultant Neurologist who works full time at the Emirates Specialty Hospital, Dubai Healthcare City with a total of twenty six years of experience as a neurologist. He was also a Consultant Neurologist at the NMC Specialty Hospital, Al Nahda, Dubai. He completed his D.M. in Neurology from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore in 1999 and served as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore. He subsequently pursued a two-year fellowship in movement disorders at the Pacific Parkinson’s Research Centre, University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
Following his fellowship, Dr. Kumar transitioned to a consultancy role at the Wockhardt Brain and Spine Hospital in Mumbai, India. In 2005 he moved to the UAE to the NMC Specialty Hospital, Al Nahda, Dubai.
His areas of expertise include Parkinson’s disease and related Movement Disorders, Multiple sclerosis, Migraine, Epilepsy, Neuromuscular disorders and Electrophysiology.
His accolades include the Distinguished Medical Specialist Award from the DHA in 2019, the prestigious Melvin Yahr fellowship in 2005 and the Silver Jubilee Award for the Best Candidate in D.M. Neurology in 1999.
He is a life member of both the Neurological Society of India and the Indian Academy of Neurology and has contributed significantly to the field through over 30 publications, including 16 peer-reviewed, indexed international articles.
