Dr Yusuf Moollan

Dr Yusuf Moollan is a specialist Hernia and General Surgeon with advanced expertise in minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery. His clinical practice focuses on the management of hernias, endoscopic procedures and varicose vein treatments, with a strong emphasis on delivering safe, evidence-based care and excellent surgical outcomes.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, having been awarded this distinction in 2017, and has undertaken further subspecialty training in complex groin and abdominal wall hernia repair, as well as minimally invasive treatments for varicose veins.

Dr Moollan is highly experienced in managing all types of hernias, ranging from common inguinal hernias to complex ventral and incisional hernias, including those with loss of domain. He utilises a wide range of advanced surgical techniques to achieve optimal results, tailoring each approach to the individual patient.

His expertise includes innovative preoperative strategies such as the use of botulinum toxin (Botox) injections into the abdominal wall muscles under ultrasound guidance, which helps relax the muscles and facilitate tension-free closure during surgery. He also employs the Progressive Preoperative Pneumoperitoneum (PPP) technique, which gradually expands the abdominal cavity prior to surgery, improving surgical outcomes and reducing the risk of recurrence.

In addition, he specialises in minimally invasive component separation techniques, including external oblique release, which can significantly reduce complications such as seroma formation. Alongside his hernia work, Dr Moollan performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopy and colonoscopy, as well as outpatient treatments for varicose veins.
