Dr Yen Cheng

Dr Yen Cheng is a highly qualified Ophthalmologist and Eye Surgeon who specialises in glaucoma and cataract surgery. With a patient-centred approach, she is dedicated to providing personalised care and utilising the latest surgical advancements to preserve and restore vision. Her clinical expertise spans general ophthalmology, with a particular focus on advanced glaucoma management and micro-invasive surgical techniques.

Dr Cheng graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2011, having also completed a Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours. She furthered her academic pursuits by obtaining a Master of Medicine in Ophthalmic Science from the University of Sydney. Dr Cheng completed her specialist ophthalmology training through a prominent eye hospital network, serving as a Senior Ophthalmology Registrar, and undertook advanced glaucoma fellowship training at a major tertiary hospital. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO) and has been recognised as a Florey Medical Science Research Scholar.

As a certified Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) Specialist, Dr Cheng is highly skilled in employing cutting-edge devices and techniques to reduce intraocular pressure and minimise the need for daily eye drops. Her clinical interests also extend to ophthalmic research, where she investigates nanoparticle-based therapeutics for glaucoma neuroprotection and wound healing. Beyond her clinical practice, Dr Cheng is deeply committed to global health, having volunteered her ophthalmic services as a Global Impact Fellow to support communities in developing nations.
