Dr William Meagher

Dr William Meagher is a highly dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who has committed his career to providing comprehensive healthcare to regional and rural communities. With a deep-seated passion for family medicine, Dr Meagher delivers patient-centred care that addresses both acute medical needs and long-term health management. He is widely recognised for his reassuring clinical approach, ensuring that patients of all ages feel supported and heard during their consultations.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr Meagher has developed a broad range of clinical interests within General Practice. He has extensive expertise in rural medicine, family health, and chronic disease management. Additionally, he has a strong background in obstetrics and gynaecology, having served as a skilled GP Obstetrician to support expectant mothers and families. His commitment to medical education is also a key aspect of his professional life, having served as a mentor, Senior Lecturer, and supervisor to guide the next generation of General Practitioners and medical students.

Dr Meagher obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney, qualifying in 1981. To further support his work in maternal health, he also completed a Diploma of the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He is a respected member of the medical community and has been honoured with a Rural Medical Service Award by the NSW Rural Doctors Network in recognition of his outstanding service to regional and remote communities. He has also contributed his expertise to national healthcare standards as a Medical Practitioner member of the Professional Services Review panel.
