Dr Wayne Shipley

Dr Wayne Shipley is a highly skilled and dedicated General Practitioner who brings a wealth of experience from his extensive background in rural and remote medicine. He is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centred care, drawing on his diverse clinical expertise to support individuals and families through all stages of life. With a reassuring and professional approach, Dr Shipley focuses on delivering high-quality healthcare tailored to the unique needs of each patient.

Throughout his career, Dr Shipley has developed a strong focus on several key areas of medicine. He is an accredited Skin Cancer Doctor, skilled in performing thorough skin and mole checks, as well as complex skin cancer surgeries. His clinical interests also encompass intravenous therapies, including iron infusions for iron deficiency and bisphosphonate infusions for osteoporosis. Additionally, he has advanced training in indigenous health and anaesthesia, including obstetric anaesthesia, and has served in critical care environments as a Senior Medical Officer in emergency and anaesthesia departments.

Dr Shipley completed his medical training at the University of Queensland, where he earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. He also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Chemistry. Demonstrating his commitment to professional excellence, he is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, and holds a Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr Shipley is actively involved in medical education, teaching and mentoring medical students and junior doctors in his capacity as a Medical Educator and Selection Marker.
