Tim's training in Head and Neck and thyroid cancer includes three prestigious clinical fellowships; a PhD in nerve injury from UNSW (Sydney); and the award of membership to the American Head and Neck Society (AHNS) and Australian and New Zealand Head and Neck Cancer Society (ANZHNCS). He is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences and has contributed to national treatment guidelines.

This extensive training involved thousands of procedures and included a high case load of complex oncology surgery, microvascular reconstruction, interventional ultrasound and minimally invasive surgery. Further background:
Originally from the Scenic Rim in South-East Queensland, Dr. Eviston completed high school at Marist College Ashgrove before embarking on his medical degree at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He graduated medical school with first-class honours, a high-distinction average and was awarded the prestigious Ian Webster Medal.
Following internship and residency at Prince of Wales hospital, Randwick, Tim was accepted onto General Surgery training at St. George and Liverpool hospitals with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. During this training Tim pursued his interest in advanced cancer surgery and reconstruction and gained valuable experience under the guidance of internationally renowned cancer surgeons including Professor David Morris, Professor Philip Crowe, Professor Bruce Ashford and Professor Jonathan Clark AM.
To further specialise in head and neck surgical oncology and reconstruction, Dr. Eviston completed an additional three years of subspecialty training after his General Surgery training. This included a fellowship in endocrine/thyroid surgery at Liverpool Hospital, as well as two prestigous fellowships in advanced head and neck cancer surgery at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, and at the University of Toronto, Canada. This experience has included thousands of operations, 33 publications, membership to the AHNS and ANZHNCS and over 250 microvascular reconstructive procedures.
In addition to his surgical expertise, Dr. Eviston is passionate about optimising patient outcomes and recovery. He completed a PhD at UNSW under Professor Arun Krishnan, focusing on nerve injury. This research resulted in multiple patents, a spinoff company and the development of targeted therapeutic approach to reduce nerve injury during surgery which is in clinical development.
