Dr Sushmita Hunter

Dr Sushmita Hunter is a highly dedicated and compassionate Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive mental health care to adult and older adult patients. As a Consultant Psychogeriatrician, she specialises in diagnosing and managing complex psychiatric conditions, with a particular focus on mood disorders, anxiety, and cognitive health. Dr Hunter is committed to delivering patient-centred care, utilising evidence-based approaches to support individuals on their journey toward mental well-being. Her clinical approach is reassuring and collaborative, ensuring that patients and their families feel supported throughout the treatment process.

With a broad range of clinical interests, Dr Hunter offers expert assessment and management for conditions such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, and depression. She also possesses specialised expertise in neuropsychiatry, functional neurological disorder, and dementia-related disorders. Dr Hunter is highly skilled in pharmacotherapy, tailoring medical treatments to the unique needs of each patient to achieve the best possible therapeutic outcomes. Dr Hunter completed her medical education at the University of New South Wales, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Honours in 1989. She went on to complete her specialist training in psychiatry, obtaining her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) in 1999. Additionally, she is an accredited member of the Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry and has contributed to the profession as an Examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
