Dr Susan Messner

Dr Susan Messner is a dedicated and highly qualified Psychiatrist who provides compassionate, patient-centred care. She specialises in the comprehensive assessment and management of a diverse range of psychiatric conditions. Dr Messner believes in understanding each patient within the broader context of their relationships and family dynamics, ensuring a holistic and supportive approach to mental health and well-being.

With a broad clinical focus, Dr Messner assists patients experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, grief, and adjustment disorders, as well as those requiring ongoing maintenance for chronic psychotic conditions. She has a particular interest in perinatal mental health, focusing on antenatal and postnatal conditions and supporting the vital relationship between parents and their infants. Beyond her clinical practice, Dr Messner is actively involved in supporting the mental health of fellow Medical Practitioners, serving as a Nominee with the Medical Council and participating in hearings related to health, performance, and conduct.

Dr Messner completed her medical education at the University of Sydney, where she obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and holds a Certificate in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Demonstrating her commitment to professional excellence, she is also an accredited member of both the Faculty of Adult Psychiatry and the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
