Dr Stuart Allison

Dr Stuart Allison is a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive mental health care for both inpatients and outpatients in Wollongong, Australia. In addition to his clinical practice, he serves as a Community Psychiatrist in the public sector, where he plays a vital role in supervising and mentoring the next generation of Specialist Doctors. Dr Allison was drawn to the field of psychiatry by a deep fascination with the human mind and a strong desire to alleviate the profound suffering, disadvantage, and stigma often associated with mental health conditions.

Throughout his career, Dr Allison has gained extensive clinical experience across a diverse range of psychiatric settings. He completed his Registrar training in the Illawarra region, working in high-dependency units, general adult psychiatry, adolescent inpatient care, consultation-liaison psychiatry, older persons inpatient services, mental health rehabilitation, and emergency departments. This broad foundation enables him to deliver highly personalised, evidence-based care. He has a particular clinical interest in the complex interface between personality and mental illness, working collaboratively with patients to foster long-term recovery and resilience.

Dr Allison holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) alongside a Master of Medicine (MMed). Committed to the highest standards of psychiatric practice, he completed his training to become a Specialist Psychiatrist and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) in 2021. His academic contributions also include receiving a research scholarship in 2012, during which he investigated healthcare delays for breast cancer patients, reflecting his broader commitment to improving patient outcomes across the medical spectrum.
