Dr Stephanie Young

Dr Stephanie Young is a highly regarded Ophthalmologist specialising in medical retina and uveitis. With a clinical focus on managing complex intraocular inflammation and retinal conditions, she is dedicated to providing reassuring, patient-centred care. Her clinical interests encompass a broad range of eye diseases, including macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and retinal vein occlusions. She is also highly skilled in performing intravitreal injections and modern microincisional cataract surgery.

Dr Young completed her medical degree (MBBS) and went on to undertake specialist training in ophthalmology. Notably, she was a member of the final cohort of Ophthalmologists to train under the pioneering Ophthalmic Surgeon, Fred Hollows. Following her initial training, she spent several years overseas to further her expertise, completing prestigious fellowships in both Uveitis and Medical Retina at a world-renowned eye hospital in London. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO) and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Young is deeply committed to medical education and clinical research. She serves as a Visiting Medical Officer at a leading teaching hospital, where she actively trains Registrar Ophthalmologists and medical students in advanced ophthalmic techniques. She is also a key contributor to a major clinical auditing project, "Fight Retinal Blindness", which evaluates the real-world effectiveness of treatments for macular degeneration, diabetic macular oedema, and retinal vein occlusion. Furthermore, she remains dedicated to humanitarian efforts, maintaining an active involvement with ophthalmic initiatives in the developing world.
