Dr Son Huynh

Dr Son Huynh is a highly qualified and dedicated Ophthalmologist who specialises in medical retinal disorders. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, he is committed to providing the highest standard of eye care. Dr Huynh has extensive clinical expertise in diagnosing and managing complex conditions affecting the back of the eye, helping patients preserve and improve their vision.

Dr Huynh graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours from the University of Sydney in 1999. Committed to academic excellence, he pursued further postgraduate studies, earning a Master of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology as well as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). He completed his specialist ophthalmic training at a prominent eye hospital in Sydney, followed by a dedicated sub-specialty fellowship in medical retina at a major tertiary hospital. Dr Huynh is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. He also holds professional memberships with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the European Society of Retinal Specialists, and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Huynh has contributed significantly to ophthalmic research. He participated in major population-based eye studies, including the Sydney Myopia Study and the Sydney Childhood Eye Study, and has published numerous research papers in peer-reviewed medical journals. He has also been actively involved in international clinical trials evaluating advanced treatments for retinal diseases. Alongside his clinical work, he shares his knowledge with the next generation of medical professionals as a Clinical Lecturer.
