Dr Simmi Kumari

Dr Simmi Kumari is a Consultant Psychiatrist with more than 15 years of clinical experience across Australia, Singapore and India. She holds a Master’s degree in Psychiatry from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) in 2022.

Dr Kumari’s clinical practice includes the assessment and management of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, eating disorders and addiction-related conditions. Her experience spans child, adolescent, adult and geriatric psychiatry across both public and private healthcare settings.

She currently practices in Melbourne, where she provides comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment, incorporating both pharmacological and psychotherapeutic approaches. Her work is informed by an evidence-based and patient-centred model of care, with an emphasis on holistic mental health management.

Dr Kumari is also accredited as an assessor for permanent impairment and medico-legal evaluations. She is approved across multiple assessment frameworks, including the American Medical Association Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment (5th Edition), Australian workers’ compensation schemes (including ACT and NSW SIRA), Comcare, Department of Veterans’ Affairs assessments, motor vehicle accident schemes, fitness for duty assessments, life and income protection insurance assessments, and medico-legal evaluations involving negligence and historical abuse claims.

Her professional work integrates clinical psychiatry with structured assessment frameworks, supporting both therapeutic care and formal medico-legal evaluation processes.
