Dr Sherry Salter

Dr Sherry Salter is a Consultant Renal and Pancreas Transplant and General Surgeon with extensive training and international experience. She completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) at the University of Otago, New Zealand, in 2003, and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2013.

Following her fellowship, Dr Salter undertook advanced subspecialty training in renal and pancreas transplantation, completing post-fellowship positions at Westmead Hospital in Sydney and Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne. She further broadened her expertise with a Fellowship in Trauma at Auckland City Hospital.

Her clinical practice encompasses a wide range of general surgical procedures, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy and appendicectomy, open inguinal and umbilical hernia repair, and excision of skin lesions such as lipomas and cysts. She also specialises in renal access surgery for patients with kidney failure, performing procedures such as peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion and arteriovenous fistula formation for haemodialysis.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Salter is committed to mentoring surgical trainees and contributes to academic literature through publications related to her field. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family and supporting her three young sons in their sporting activities.
