Dr Sharon Foley

Dr Sharon Foley is a highly regarded Senior Consultant Psychiatrist based in Spring Hill, Brisbane, who is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care. With a clinical focus on young adults and adults, she specialises in diagnosing and managing a wide range of psychiatric conditions. Dr Foley is particularly recognised for her expertise in early psychosis and youth mental health, helping patients navigate complex psychological challenges with a supportive and reassuring approach.

Throughout her clinical career, Dr Foley has developed a deep interest in the early identification of emerging psychotic disorders and the management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in young adults. Her clinical practice also encompasses the treatment of high-prevalence mental health disorders, including anxiety and mood difficulties. By tailoring her therapeutic interventions to the unique needs of each individual, she aims to foster long-term recovery and improve overall well-being.

Dr Foley obtained her primary medical qualification, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB BCh), from the National University of Ireland in 1999. She subsequently completed her Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 2008, focusing her doctoral research on suicidality and violence in first-episode psychosis. Dr Foley holds an Australian Medical Council (AMC) Certificate, awarded in 2009, and achieved her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) in 2010. Additionally, she is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in the United Kingdom and a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI). Demonstrating her commitment to the advancement of her field, she serves as the Queensland Representative on the Bi-National Section for Youth Mental Health of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
