Dr Shailendhra Bethi

Dr Shailendhra Bethi is a highly qualified Consultant Psychiatrist who provides compassionate, patient-centred care. He specialises in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of psychiatric conditions in adults, adopting a holistic approach to mental health. Dr Bethi strongly believes in the value of working collaboratively with patients, their families, and carers to support them in achieving their individual recovery goals. His practice is characterised by a reassuring and professional manner, ensuring that patients feel supported throughout their therapeutic journey.

With a broad range of clinical interests, Dr Bethi has particular expertise in managing complex mental health conditions. His areas of focus include eating disorders, adult ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorders, and he is trained in utilising the Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI-R) for diagnostic evaluations. Additionally, he has a keen interest in Neuropsychiatry, which addresses the interface of neurological and psychiatric disorders, and Psycho-Oncology, supporting patients experiencing psychiatric conditions in the context of cancer and its treatments. He is also highly experienced in treating mood, anxiety, personality, and psychotic disorders, including complex treatment-resistant psychosis.

Dr Bethi completed his postgraduate medical training in England, where he obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health. He holds a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) from the United Kingdom. Demonstrating his commitment to the highest standards of psychiatric practice, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych) in the UK and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). He has also held significant clinical leadership roles, including serving as a Medical Director for public inpatient mental health services, and contributes to the education of future medical professionals as a Senior Lecturer.
