Dr Sara Baqar

Dr Sara Baqar is a highly accomplished Endocrinologist and General Practitioner dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centred care. With a deep commitment to improving patient outcomes, she manages a diverse range of endocrine disorders and general health concerns. Dr Baqar is particularly passionate about empowering her patients through education, ensuring they are active participants in their healthcare journeys. Her clinical approach is characterised by empathy, thoroughness, and a dedication to evidence-based medicine.

Her clinical interests span all aspects of endocrinology, with a particular focus on diabetes management, thyroid disease, and thyroid cancer. Dr Baqar also provides expert care for patients experiencing parathyroid disorders, pituitary and adrenal gland disorders, and osteoporosis. Additionally, she is highly experienced in managing complex hormonal conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, menopause, hirsutism, and androgen deficiency, as well as supporting patients in transgender health. Her dual expertise allows her to address these complex conditions with a holistic understanding of general health.

Dr Baqar completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Monash University, qualifying in 2003. She went on to complete her specialist training, obtaining a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2012. Committed to advancing medical knowledge, she undertook extensive research into the effects of salt on diabetes and cardiovascular health, earning a PhD from the University of Melbourne in 2021. Her academic excellence has been recognised with prestigious scholarships, including the National Heart Foundation Health Professional Scholarship and the Sheppard M Lowe Scholarship.
