Dr Sanu Sudhakar

Dr Sanu Sudhakar is a Consultant Psychiatrist with experience working across a range of mental health settings in both Australia and overseas. He holds specialist registration in Psychiatry with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).

Dr Sudhakar completed his MBBS at Tribhuvan University, Nepal, in 2010, followed by an MD in Psychiatry from Pondicherry University, India, in 2015. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2022.

His clinical practice includes the assessment and management of trauma and stress-related disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders and psychotic illnesses. He has worked across a variety of psychiatric specialties and healthcare environments, including community and hospital-based mental health services.

Prior to relocating to Australia, Dr Sudhakar worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist and led outreach initiatives aimed at improving access to mental health services in remote communities. He was involved in programmes focused on mental health education and service development, as well as research examining quality of life outcomes for individuals living with chronic mental illness.

Dr Sudhakar currently works as a Consultant Psychiatrist with NSW Health at Nepean Hospital and Hornsby Hospital. He is also an accredited supervisor for trainee psychiatrists under the RANZCP and has contributed to research and publications in rehabilitation psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry.

He is fluent in English, Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil.
