Dr Samir Benjamin

Dr Samir Benjamin is a highly respected Senior Consultant Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for a wide range of psychiatric conditions. He is dedicated to delivering compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to adults and young people, helping them navigate complex psychological challenges. With a clinical approach that prioritises patient well-being and long-term recovery, Dr Benjamin works collaboratively with individuals to develop personalised treatment plans tailored to their unique needs and cultural backgrounds.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr Benjamin has developed particular expertise in treating anxiety disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He is highly regarded for his specialised focus on Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD), offering thorough diagnostic assessments and tailored management strategies. Additionally, Dr Benjamin has extensive experience in transcultural psychiatry, providing bilingual services to support culturally diverse communities, as well as in medicolegal psychiatry, where he conducts independent psychiatric assessments and prepares expert witness reports for civil and criminal litigation.

Dr Benjamin earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., B.Ch.) from Ain Shams University Faculty of Medicine in Egypt in 1979, followed by his Australian Medical Council qualification in 1988. He holds a Master of Health Law from the University of Sydney, completed in 2005. Dr Benjamin is an International Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Fellow of the Australian College of Legal Medicine. His extensive professional affiliations also include being a Fellow of the Institute of Australasian Psychiatrists, a Fellow of the Australian Society of Psychological Medicine, a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Examiners, and a Member of the Australian Association for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
