Dr Sameh Younan

Dr Sameh Younan is a highly qualified Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist who provides compassionate, comprehensive mental health care for children, adolescents, and adults. With a clinical approach deeply rooted in understanding the complex interplay of relationships and emotions, he specialises in addressing a wide range of mental health challenges. Dr Younan supports patients experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, complex trauma, and prolonged grief. He also assists individuals navigating deeper interpersonal difficulties, such as relationship issues, intimacy struggles, anger management, and patterns of "people pleasing" or difficulty establishing personal boundaries.

In his therapeutic practice, Dr Younan integrates several advanced, evidence-based modalities to tailor treatment to each individual's or family's unique needs. His work is heavily informed by systems theory, attachment theory, and the neuroscience of emotion. He utilises Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and emotion-focused and somatic-focused therapies to facilitate healing and memory reconsolidation. Dedicated to strengthening caregiver-child bonds, he also employs specialised family-centric approaches, including Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Theraplay, and couple and family therapy.

Dr Younan completed his medical training, earning a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and holds an Advanced Certificate in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Committed to continuous professional development, he has also obtained a Graduate Diploma in Couple and Family Therapy, alongside certifications as a Practitioner in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and in Theraplay. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr Younan contributes to the wider medical community as an Adjunct Associate Lecturer at a leading university, where he helps educate the next generation of mental health professionals.
