Dr Rowan Keighran

Dr Rowan Keighran is a highly qualified Consultant Psychiatrist and Neuropsychiatrist who provides comprehensive psychiatric care for patients aged 17 and older. He specialises in the assessment and management of complex neuropsychiatric conditions, bridging the gap between neurology and psychiatry. Dr Keighran is dedicated to delivering patient-centred, compassionate care, with a particular focus on supporting individuals who experience cognitive, developmental, or neurological challenges alongside mental health concerns.

Dr Keighran completed his medical degree with Honours at the University of New South Wales. He subsequently undertook specialist training in Psychiatry, completing advanced subspecialty posts in neuropsychiatry and developmental disability. In 2014, he was awarded a Fellowship in Intellectual Disability Mental Health by the New South Wales Institute of Psychiatry, and in 2015, he completed his Master of Psychiatry, earning a place on the Director's List of Academic Excellence. Dr Keighran is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and a member of the Australian Medical Association. He is also an accredited supervisor, contributing to the education and training of future Psychiatry Registrars.

Throughout his career, Dr Keighran has gained extensive experience across both public and private healthcare settings, including overseeing a major inpatient neuropsychiatric ward as a Staff Specialist. His clinical interests span a broad spectrum of conditions, including intellectual disability mental health, autism spectrum disorder, adult ADHD, and seizure disorders. He is also highly experienced in managing dementia, cognitive disorders, and traumatic brain injuries, as well as general psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. Dr Keighran is committed to providing thorough, evidence-based assessments and tailored treatment plans to help his patients achieve optimal mental health and well-being.
