Dr Robert Llewellyn-Jones

Dr Robert Llewellyn-Jones is a highly dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist who provides compassionate, patient-centred care. He views medical care as a collaborative partnership between the doctor and the patient, focusing on equipping individuals with the practical tools and strategies needed to enhance their quality of life and support their recovery. With a reassuring and respectful approach, Dr Llewellyn-Jones ensures that his patients feel heard and fully understand their difficulties and treatment options. He works closely with General Practitioners and, with patient consent, involves families and loved ones to ensure a holistic support network.

His clinical practice focuses on General Psychiatry and Old Age Psychiatry, with a particular emphasis on supporting adults of all ages. Dr Llewellyn-Jones has special interests in treating mood disorders, such as depression and late-life depression, as well as anxiety disorders and traumatic stress. He is also highly experienced in managing mental health challenges associated with physical health problems, neurological disabilities, early dementia, and grief. To support his patients, he offers a range of therapeutic interventions, including medication management, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and insight-oriented psychotherapy and counselling. He does not see patients under the age of 18.

Dr Llewellyn-Jones holds a Bachelor of Science (Medicine) with Honours, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, and a Doctor of Philosophy. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, and holds active memberships in both its Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry and Faculty of Psychotherapy. Before specialising as a Psychiatrist, he completed the Family Medicine Training Programme with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and worked as a General Practitioner in Australia, Nepal, and the United Kingdom. He has also contributed to the academic field as a Conjoint Senior Lecturer in Psychological Medicine and was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for his service to Psychiatry and children with developmental disabilities.
