Dr Richard Parker is a highly qualified Specialist Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic Surgeon. He specialises in complex oculoplastic surgery, which focuses on the delicate structures surrounding the eye, including the eyelids, tear ducts, and orbit. Known for his reassuring and patient-centred approach, Dr Parker is dedicated to delivering the highest standard of clinical care, ensuring that each patient fully understands their treatment options, both surgical and non-surgical, before proceeding with any intervention.

With a broad range of clinical interests, Dr Parker manages both general ophthalmic conditions and highly specialised oculoplastic concerns. His surgical expertise encompasses advanced cataract surgery, including the use of multifocal and extended-depth of focus intraocular lenses, as well as pterygium surgery. In his sub-specialty of oculoplastic surgery, he regularly treats conditions such as heavy or droopy eyelids, eyelid malpositions, watery eyes, and dry eyes. He is also highly skilled in performing complex orbital surgeries for thyroid eye disease, orbital inflammation, and tumours, and works closely with multidisciplinary teams to manage complex skin cancers affecting the periocular region.

Dr Parker completed his undergraduate studies in Sydney, earning a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours and a Bachelor of Commerce. He then pursued his medical training at Flinders University, obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Following his general medical training, he undertook specialist ophthalmology training at several major teaching hospitals in Sydney and completed a prestigious Masters of Medicine in Ophthalmic Science at the University of Sydney. To further refine his skills, he completed a highly coveted fellowship in oculoplastic and orbital surgery at a world-renowned eye hospital in London, United Kingdom. Dr Parker is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeons.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Parker is deeply committed to medical education and clinical research. He serves as a Clinical Associate Lecturer, contributing to the training of the next generation of eye surgeons and medical students. He has published numerous scientific papers in peer-reviewed medical journals and regularly presents his findings at national and international conferences.
