Dr. Richard Barton is a highly skilled Specialist Plastic Surgeon based in Melbourne, Australia, renowned for his expertise in aesthetic and reconstructive facial surgery.

Dr Barton is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS).

He completed his undergraduate medical degree in 1998. Followed by 11 years of hospital training in Australia before becoming a specialist Plastic Surgeon. He then pursued advanced training internationally, undertaking a double fellowship at Oxford University Hospitals in the UK and Vancouver General Hospital in Canada. 

Currently, Dr Barton holds public hospital appointments at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Alfred Hospital, where he specialises in managing adult facial trauma and complex microsurgical head and neck reconstruction. He also serves as the Surgical Supervisor for Plastic Surgery Trainees and Director of the Advanced Microsurgical Fellowship for internationally qualified Plastic Surgeons at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

In his private practice, Dr Barton addresses a wide range of plastic surgical cases, with a particular focus on reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the face and nose. He also performs breast surgery, body contouring surgery post weight loss, and gender affirming chest surgery and facial feminisation.
