Dr. Rakesh Agarwal

Dr Rakesh Agarwal is a Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing Fellow based in Adelaide, with a clinical and academic focus on cardiac rhythm disorders and cardiovascular implantable electronic devices. He is currently undertaking subspecialist training in electrophysiology and pacing at the Lyell McEwin Hospital, where he is involved in the assessment and management of patients with complex arrhythmias and device-related cardiac conditions.

Alongside his clinical fellowship, Dr Agarwal is a PhD candidate at the University of Adelaide. His research is centred on cognitive decline in atrial fibrillation, reflecting a broader interest in the long-term neurological and systemic impacts of cardiac rhythm disorders. His work contributes to improving understanding of the relationship between atrial fibrillation and cognitive outcomes, with the aim of informing future preventative and therapeutic strategies.

Dr Agarwal’s clinical training is complemented by active involvement in academic research and ongoing engagement with evidence-based cardiology. His dual role in clinical practice and research supports a comprehensive approach to cardiac electrophysiology, integrating patient care with scientific investigation.

He is committed to developing expertise in complex arrhythmia management, including pacing strategies and device therapy, and to contributing to advancements in electrophysiology through research and clinical innovation.
