Dr De Silva obtained her medical degree from Varna University in Bulgaria, qualifying in 1986. Following her initial medical training, she gained clinical experience in Sri Lanka, working across key areas such as obstetrics, paediatrics, general medicine, and preventative health. After relocating to Australia in 1994, she completed her postgraduate training to become a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Additionally, she holds a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

As an experienced General Practitioner, Dr De Silva has developed a diverse range of clinical interests. She specialises in women's and children's health, chronic disease management, and preventative medicine. She is registered to provide pregnancy shared care and is highly skilled in health promotion, care plans, and minor clinical procedures.
