About Dr Phil Ha

Dr Phil Ha is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with subspecialty expertise in steatotic (fatty) liver disease, decompensated cirrhosis, and complex liver care. Graduating with First Class Honours from Monash University in 2015, he completed basic physician training at Monash Health, followed by advanced gastroenterology training with a focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He subsequently completed a Clinical Fellowship in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at the Royal Free Hospital in London, gaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).

Dr Ha holds a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours), during which he pioneered digital health innovations by developing a specialized smartphone application for outpatient liver disease telemonitoring. Recognized with accolades such as the John Flynn Scholarship and the John Burgess Prize for Clinical Excellence, he holds a public specialist appointment at Peninsula Health. Dr Ha maintains an active role in teaching and mentoring basic physician trainees and gastroenterology advanced trainees while providing comprehensive diagnostic endoscopy and personalised hepatology care.

  • General Gastroenterology: Investigation and treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), coeliac disease, Helicobacter pylori eradication, and iron deficiency anaemia
