About Mr Patrick Preece

Mr Patrick Preece is a consultant urological surgeon with a subspecialty interest in male sexual dysfunction and genito-urethral reconstructive surgery, with a particular focus on erectile dysfunction and penile implant surgery.

Patrick graduated with Honours in Medicine from Monash University before completing specialist urological training in Melbourne. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2021 and subsequently undertook further subspecialty fellowship training in andrology and genito-urethral reconstruction in the United Kingdom.

During his fellowship, Patrick worked at University Hospital Southampton and University College London Hospital, gaining further experience in penile prosthetic surgery, male continence surgery, microsurgery and complex genital and urethral reconstruction. His reconstructive practice incorporates techniques including tissue grafting and other plastic reconstructive approaches to restore urinary and sexual function.

His principal areas of subspecialty practice include:

  • Erectile dysfunction and penile implant surgery
  • Peyronie’s disease and penile curvature surgery
  • Male urinary incontinence, including artificial urinary sphincter and male sling surgery
  • Urethral stricture disease and urethroplasty
  • Vasectomy reversal and microsurgical treatment of male infertility
  • Penile and male genital reconstruction
  • Penile skin disease and penile cancer
  • Adult and infant circumcision

Alongside his subspecialty practice, Patrick continues to manage a broad range of general urological conditions, including:

  • Vasectomy
  • Kidney stones
  • Benign prostate enlargement
  • Prostate and bladder cancer
  • Testicular and scrotal conditions
  • Foreskin disorders

Patrick has an active interest in clinical research, particularly in andrology and reconstructive urology. His published work includes research into surgical outcomes for Peyronie’s disease, vasectomy reversal and urinary continence.
He currently has a particular research interest in chronic and recurrent haematospermia and has introduced transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy (TUSV) into his Australian practice as a minimally invasive endoscopic approach for selected men with persistent symptoms.

Patrick’s approach is centred on careful assessment and an open discussion of both surgical and non-surgical options. In areas such as erectile dysfunction and penile reconstruction, where treatment decisions can have significant functional and personal implications, he places particular importance on helping patients understand the available options and choose treatment appropriate to their individual circumstances.
