Dr Nikola Mitrev is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with extensive experience in managing pathologies of the gut, liver and pancreas.
Dr Nikola Mitrev completed a Bachelor of Medical Science (2007) followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (2011) at the University of Sydney. He trained as a junior doctor and basic physician registrar at St George/ Sutherland hospitals.
Dr Nikola Mitrev attained his Gastroenterology and Hepatology specialist qualifications at the end of 2018, having trained at Concord Hospital, Gosford/ Wyong Hospitals and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. In 2019 he further completed a fellowship year at Blacktown hospital with a focus on IBD as well as diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, where he subsequently stayed on as a consultant. In parallel to his gastroenterology advanced training, Dr Mitrev was awarded a Master’s degree from the University of Sydney for his work in optimising biologic drug therapy in IBD. Dr Mitrev has received several academic awards and research grants through the years. He continues to be active in research and medical education.
Currently Dr Nikola Mitrev is a staff specialist at Sutherland hospital and a VMO at Wollongong Hospital. He also consults at Rosemont Endoscopy Centre, Miranda Gastroenterology and Kareena Private Hospital. He is currently a conjoint lecturer before the University of NSW.
