Dr Muhammad Waqas Fazal

Dr Waqas Fazal is an Australian and UK-trained Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist with expertise in advanced endoscopy, pancreato-biliary disorders, and endoscopic weight loss therapies.

He provides comprehensive care for a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions, with particular interests in colorectal cancer prevention, pancreatic and biliary diseases, and obesity management. Dr Fazal is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care supported by the latest evidence and endoscopic techniques.

Dr Fazal performs high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy, including advanced endoscopic resection of complex colonic polyps and selected early gastrointestinal cancers. He is highly experienced in advanced pancreato-biliary procedures, including Endoscopic Retrograde CholangioPancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), and accepts referrals for complex pancreatic, biliary, and gallbladder disorders.

He is also one of the few gastroenterologists in Australia with specialised training in bariatric endoscopy and endoscopic weight loss procedures. To develop expertise in this field, he undertook advanced training at leading international bariatric endoscopy centres. His practice includes Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) and other evidence-based approaches to obesity and metabolic health.

In addition to procedural care, Dr Fazal provides comprehensive assessment and long-term management of obesity and associated metabolic conditions. He works closely with patients to develop personalised treatment plans that integrate lifestyle modification, preventative healthcare, and medically supervised weight management strategies.

Dr Fazal was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2016.
