Dr Michelle Hellyer

Dr Michelle Hellyer is a highly qualified and dedicated Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who provides compassionate, patient-centred care. Specialising in the mental health and well-being of young people, she focuses on delivering comprehensive psychiatric assessments and tailored treatment plans. Dr Hellyer is committed to supporting children, adolescents, and their families through complex emotional and behavioural challenges, ensuring a reassuring and supportive environment for every patient.

In her clinical practice, Dr Hellyer has developed a strong focus on a wide range of mental health conditions. Her areas of clinical interest include trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Additionally, she is highly experienced in managing anxiety and mood disorders. To support her patients, she utilises a combination of therapeutic modalities and medication management, tailoring her approach to meet the unique developmental and emotional needs of each individual.

Dr Hellyer completed her foundational medical training, earning a Bachelor of Science (BSc) alongside a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). She went on to complete advanced training in her specialty, obtaining a Certificate of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr Hellyer is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). Demonstrating her commitment to leadership and excellence in her field, she also serves as the Chair of the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Subcommittee (Queensland Jurisdiction) for the College.
