Dr Michael Prior

Dr Michael Prior is a highly regarded Consultant Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive, compassionate care to adult patients. With a clinical approach that is both holistic and evidence-based, he focuses on understanding each individual's unique circumstances to deliver tailored treatment plans. Throughout his career, Dr Prior has developed extensive expertise in general adult psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, and addiction medicine. Additionally, he has a deep interest in post-traumatic stress disorder and drug and alcohol disorders. Dr Prior completed his medical training at the University of New South Wales, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1979. He went on to obtain his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1990. Committed to continuous professional development, he also earned a Certificate in Forensic Psychiatry from the New South Wales Institute of Psychiatry in 1999 and a Foundation Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2003. Dr Prior is a Foundation Member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists Faculty of Adult Psychiatry and Faculty of Forensic Psychiatry, as well as a member of several prestigious organisations, including the Medico-Legal Society of New South Wales and the Australian Academy of Forensic Sciences.
