Dr Michael Dowd

Dr Michael Dowd is a highly qualified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. With a focus on achieving optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes, he specialises in a broad range of plastic, reconstructive, and hand surgeries. Dr Dowd is committed to delivering personalised treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each patient, ensuring they feel supported and informed throughout their surgical journey.

Dr Dowd completed his Bachelor of Science before earning his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with First Class Honours from the University of New South Wales, qualifying in 1990. He went on to obtain a Diploma in Hand Surgery and was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. To further refine his expertise, he completed an intensive eighteen-month fellowship at the prestigious St Andrews Centre for Plastic and Hand Surgery in the United Kingdom. Dr Dowd maintains active professional memberships with the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Australian Hand Surgery Society, and the New South Wales Hand Surgery Association.

Throughout his career, Dr Dowd has developed a particular clinical interest in hand surgery and skin cancer surgery. His expertise in hand surgery encompasses the treatment of complex soft tissue disorders, including carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren's disease, de Quervain's tenosynovitis, trigger finger, and hand tumours. In addition to his clinical practice, he has contributed to the advancement of his field through research and has served as a University Lecturer, sharing his knowledge with the next generation of medical professionals.
