Dr Melanie Hemsley

Dr Melanie Hemsley is a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care. With a strong belief in a holistic approach to healthcare, she values building long-term, trusting relationships with her patients. Dr Hemsley is passionate about supporting individuals through all stages of life, combining her extensive medical knowledge with a reassuring and empathetic clinical manner to ensure that every patient feels heard and supported.

As a General Practitioner with a deep interest in women's health, Dr Hemsley offers specialised care across a broad spectrum of clinical areas. Her expertise encompasses menstrual health, puberty, fertility planning, and contraception, including the insertion and removal of intrauterine devices (IUDs) and contraceptive implants. She is highly experienced in managing complex perimenopause and menopause concerns, providing both hormonal and non-hormonal treatment options. Additionally, she is certified in sexual health and reproductive medicine, and she provides pregnancy shared care in collaboration with major metropolitan hospitals. Her background in psychology also enables her to incorporate Focused Psychological Strategies into her practice, addressing both the physical and mental well-being of her patients.

Dr Hemsley completed her medical training at the University of Sydney, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours in 2006. Prior to her medical studies, she earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science, majoring in psychology. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and holds a Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Committed to advancing the medical profession, Dr Hemsley is actively involved in medical education, serving on the Board of Examiners for postgraduate diploma examinations and supervising training General Practitioners.
