Dr May Thwin

Dr May Thwin is a General Surgeon specialising in Breast and Endocrine Surgery, as well as Surgical Oncology. Based in Sydney and Griffith, she has dedicated the past four years to developing advanced expertise in these subspecialties, providing comprehensive, patient-centred care across a broad range of benign and malignant conditions.

Dr Thwin completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Adelaide in 2009 and went on to earn a Master of Clinical Science in 2015. She was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2020, recognising her extensive surgical training and is also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).

Her professional experience includes appointments at the Melanoma Institute Australia and as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Endocrine Surgery in Oxford, United Kingdom, where she gained valuable experience in the management of complex endocrine and oncological conditions.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Thwin is actively involved in medical education and regularly lectures at both the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales. She is passionate about training future healthcare professionals and advancing surgical knowledge through teaching, mentorship, and evidence-based practice.
