Dr Matthew Ball

Dr Matthew Ball is a highly qualified Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmic Surgeon who specialises in cornea, anterior segment, and cataract surgery, as well as glaucoma management. Dedicated to providing the highest standard of patient care, he combines advanced microsurgical techniques with a compassionate, patient-centred approach. Dr Ball is committed to helping patients achieve optimal visual outcomes, tailoring his treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Dr Ball completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Adelaide, followed by a Master of International Public Health at the University of Sydney. He undertook his specialist training at a major eye hospital in Sydney, where he was recognised for his clinical excellence with both the Churchill Fellowship and the Norman Rose Travelling Scholarship. To further refine his expertise, Dr Ball completed two prestigious post-graduate fellowships in the United Kingdom: the first in corneal surgery at a specialist eye hospital in Bristol, and the second in anterior segment surgery at a world-renowned eye hospital in London. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO).

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Ball has a strong interest in international public health and training the next generation of Ophthalmologists. During his specialist training, he was heavily involved in mentoring and training new Ophthalmology Registrars. His dedication to global eye health is reflected in his participation in developing-world initiatives, including serving as a Senior Medical Officer for Médecins Sans Frontières in Ethiopia and contributing to the Myanmar Eye Care Programme. Through these diverse experiences, Dr Ball has developed a comprehensive understanding of complex ocular conditions, ensuring his patients receive world-class, evidence-based care.
