Dr Mark Howard

Dr Mark Howard is a highly qualified Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist who provides comprehensive mental health care for adolescents and adults. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, he focuses on understanding the unique emotional and psychological needs of each individual. Dr Howard specialises in assessing complex mental health presentations, particularly those that have not responded to previous treatments, and offers tailored therapeutic interventions to support his patients on their journey toward well-being.

His clinical practice encompasses a broad range of mental health conditions, with a particular focus on anxiety disorders, depression, and personality disorders. Dr Howard is highly skilled in delivering both brief and extended psychodynamic psychotherapy, as well as interpersonal therapy and mentalisation-based therapy. He also provides dedicated support for individuals experiencing complex trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, prolonged grief, and gender-related issues. Through a collaborative and supportive therapeutic relationship, he helps patients navigate deep-seated emotional challenges and develop effective coping strategies.

Dr Howard completed his medical training at the University of Sydney, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1987. He went on to obtain his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1993. Committed to continuous professional development, he became a Member of the Australian Psychoanalytical Society in 2001 and is also a Member of the International Psychoanalytic Association. Additionally, he is an Accredited Member of the RANZCP Faculty of Psychotherapy and was certified as a Certified Practitioner in Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy by the Anna Freud Centre in London in 2016.
