Dr Lahvinya Kulaendra

Dr Lahvinya Kulaendra is a highly qualified Consultant Psychiatrist who specialises in psychotherapy. She provides compassionate, patient-centred care to adults experiencing a diverse range of emotional, psychological, and mental health challenges. With a therapeutic approach grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy, Dr Kulaendra focuses on understanding the underlying patterns of her patients' difficulties, tailoring treatments to meet each individual's unique needs. Her clinical practice is dedicated to fostering a supportive and reassuring environment where patients feel heard and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey.

In addition to general adult psychiatry, Dr Kulaendra has developed specialised clinical interests in women's mental health, as well as mother and infant mental health. She is highly skilled in addressing complex emotional concerns, including anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, complex trauma, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. Her expertise also extends to supporting individuals through grief and loss, postnatal depression, and relationship or family difficulties. By integrating psychological therapies with medical management when appropriate, she ensures a holistic and comprehensive approach to mental well-being.

Dr Kulaendra completed her medical education with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours (MBBS (Hons)). She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and holds an advanced Certificate of Psychotherapy Psychiatry. Committed to advancing the field of mental health, she serves as an Honorary Lecturer in Psychiatry within the Department of Clinical Medicine at Macquarie University and lectures on psychoanalytic theory to Psychiatry Trainees for the Health Education and Training Institute of the New South Wales Ministry of Health. Furthermore, she is a candidate training through the Sydney Branch of the Australian Psychoanalytical Society and contributes her expertise as a lead supervisor for a cancer support programme.
