Dr Lachlan McNamara

Dr. Lachlan McNamara is a highly skilledFellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM)with advanced training inperioperative and musculoskeletal medicine. Dr McNamara completed his training locally throughout the Monash, Alfred and Epworth networks and maintains appointments in private emergency institutions. Simultaneously, having worked within several leadingorthopaedic groups throughout his training, he has gained a wealth of experience which is harnessed to provide novel approaches to healthcare access.

An Emergency Physician with a special interest in pain management, developed throughout a career in emergency medicine where the significant inequalities in access to timely and effective pain care became increasingly evident. He has undertaken substantial postgraduate education and supervised clinical training in interventional pain management techniques, allowing him to provide a contemporary FACEM-led approach to pain care within a multidisciplinary team. This model offers an alternative and complementary pathway to conventional pain management services, with a focus on evidence-based, patient-centred, and function-oriented care.

Resultantly he plays a vital role in optimising patient outcomes through acomprehensive, patient-centred approach, and as thecoordinator of a multidisciplinary team, he ensures seamless collaboration between surgeons, physiotherapists, pain specialists, and other healthcare professionals to deliverintegrated, evidence-based care.
