Dr Kate Kavanagh-Patel

Dr Kate Kavanagh-Patel is an experienced Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, currently consulting at St George Private Hospital. She completed her MBBS degree at the University of New South Wales in 2006 and was awarded FRANZCOG in 2016. As well as this Dr Kavanagh-Patel is a RANZCOG Training Supervisor and a Conjoint Lecturer and Examiner at the University of New South Wales.

Dr Kavanagh-Patel provides comprehensive care across all aspects of obstetrics, supporting women from preconception through pregnancy, delivery, and postnatal care. She has particular expertise in managing complex pregnancies, including those complicated by medical conditions such as diabetes or hypertension, twin pregnancies, vaginal birth after caesarean, and external cephalic version (ECV) for breech presentation. She also offers care for early pregnancy concerns, including bleeding and pregnancy loss.

Her gynaecological practice is equally broad, offering holistic care for women of all ages. This includes cervical screening and colposcopy, contraception, menstrual disorders, ovarian cysts, PCOS, fibroids, pelvic pain and endometriosis, infertility, miscarriage, and menopause-related concerns. Where possible, she prioritises conservative management, while also being highly skilled in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, including minimally invasive hysterectomy.

Outside medicine, she enjoys time with her family, staying active, and good food and wine.
