Dr Junita Basnett is a highly dedicated and compassionate Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive mental health care. Before embarking on her medical career, Dr Basnett worked in the international financial sector across countries such as China and Singapore. This unique background has provided her with a profound awareness of transcultural issues and the diverse challenges faced by individuals from different cultural backgrounds. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively as a Mental Health Clinician with ethno-culturally diverse populations in public and non-government settings. Her broad experience spans both hospital and community environments, allowing her to utilise a well-rounded, culturally sensitive approach to patient care.

Dr Basnett completed her medical training at the University of Sydney, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). Prior to her medical studies, she earned a degree in Finance and Mathematics from the University of New South Wales. Committed to continuous professional development and public health, she also holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) and a Master of Health Management (MHM). Dr Basnett is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), reflecting her high standards of clinical excellence and dedication to the field of Psychiatry.

In her clinical practice, Dr Basnett specialises in diagnosing and managing a wide range of mental health conditions. Her areas of interest include depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and trauma-related disorders. Additionally, she provides specialised psychiatric support for complex patients and adolescents aged 15 to 18, particularly in the assessment and management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). By combining her extensive training with a warm and empathetic approach, Dr Basnett supports her patients in achieving meaningful recovery and transitioning smoothly back into their daily lives, studies, or work.
