Dr John Best

Dr John Best is a highly respected Public Health Physician and Specialist Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician. With a career dedicated to promoting wellness and treating musculoskeletal conditions, he adopts a holistic approach to healthcare, focusing on the body, mind, and spirit as essential components of overall well-being. Dr Best is deeply committed to health promotion, lifestyle management, and community health advocacy, helping patients from all walks of life achieve optimal health and vitality.

In his clinical practice, Dr Best focuses on exercise prescription, lifestyle modification, and preventing burn-out. He has a particular interest in men's health and is a passionate advocate for community-based health initiatives. His clinical expertise spans the management of chronic joint conditions, such as osteoarthritis of the hip and knee, as well as shoulder impingement, groin pain, and chronic tendon injuries. Beyond his clinical work, Dr Best has demonstrated a profound commitment to public health by co-founding a specialised injury clinic that provides voluntary medical care to asylum seekers and refugees, ensuring that disadvantaged populations receive high-quality healthcare.

Dr Best completed his Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Newcastle, Australia, in 1984. He went on to pursue postgraduate studies, earning a Postgraduate Diploma of Sports Medicine from the University of London in 1990. He is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Sports and Exercise Physicians, having achieved his fellowship in 1992, and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine. In addition to his clinical and public health pursuits, Dr Best serves as a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, where he teaches medical and exercise physiology students, contributing to the education of the next generation of healthcare professionals.
